Hendricks County Flyer closes its doors

The Hendricks County Flyer has been in business since 1965. Today, they released their final edition and closed their doors for good.

Visitors to the office will be greeted with a discreet Closed sign at the front entrance.

Facebook posts on the subject have begun popping up that include the following: “It’s been coming for a long time, but yesterday was a really, really hard day for everyone. I’m encouraging everyone to turn to the Hendricks County Business Leader and Hendricks County ICON. Subscribe to the products and give them your advertising dollars.”

“The Flyer Group was a worthy competitor and it’s never good news hearing of any newspaper closing – no doubt this was a difficult decision for its management team,” Rick Myers, publisher of the Hendricks County ICON and Hendricks County Business Leader, said. “I know many Flyer staffers, good people, and I wish them nothing but the best in the days ahead.”

According to the Flyer website, four members of the staff of seven will continue on with CNHI at other newspapers.

“We appreciate the commitment of our staff, the loyal readers and the advertisers over the years,” publisher Beverly Joyce said.
