Hendricks Regional Health and Hancock Health have joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network. These collaborations were announced at a news conference on June 29 at the Indiana Statehouse capitol building.

Members are independent healthcare organizations throughout the world and are carefully vetted before gaining membership into this elite network.

“It was really clear when we got deep into understanding the organizations’ (Hancock Health and Hendricks Regional Health) culture, quality, and commitment to patient-centered care that these organizations stood out,” said Mark V. Larson, M.D., medical director of the May Clinic Care Network. “We are thrilled to join with them.”

“We pride ourselves in being the low-cost and high-quality health provider in west-central Indiana,” said Kevin Speer, J.D.president and CEO of Hendricks Regional Health. “This opportunity to have a relationship with the Mayo Clinic and their experts will guarantee that patients are able to stay closer to home for their care and not have to travel for that care. All of the consultative services (through the Mayo Clinic Care Network) are done at no cost to the patient. Our patients and our doctors now have access to a global network of expertise.”

As members of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, they have access to Mayo Clinic’s 4700 physicians and an international platform where physicians, researchers, and specialists can share information, research, and resources.

“This is an absolute game changer for our patients who have complex medical problems, rare diseases, or atypical cancers,” said Dr. Michelle Fenoughty, chief medical officer at HendricksRegional Health. “This is especially true for our patients who have complex medical problems, rare disease, or atypical cancers. Us having the ability to communicate with them(physicians and experts on the Mayo Clinic Care Network) in a quick way, pass that information to our patients, then create our treatment plans is a game changer for us and our patients.”
