Top of the class to top in the State

Today, Katie Pourcho, Danville’s North Elementary art teacher, was named 2020 Indiana Teacher of the Year.

Facility, staff, and students surprised Ms. Pourcho with today’s announcement by Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. Tracey Shafer, superintendent of Danville Community School Corporation, lead the cheers by students.

“It’s a great day for Danville, Hendricks County, and the State of Indiana to recognize one of your own teachers as the 2020 Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Katie Pourcho will do an excellent job of representing Indiana and serving as an Ambassador for all of us.  Congratulations to Ms. Pourcho and Hendricks County,” said Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction.

As the 2020 Teacher of the Year, Katie Pourcho will represent Indiana in the National Teacher of the Year Competition.
