Six teenagers injured in Hendricks County crash; two airlifted

The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. on County Road 75 West (Mackey Road), south of County Road 100 South.

Deputies say the car went off the road and hit a utility pole, according to Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Yetter.

The occupants were ages 16 to 19. Two were flown to St. Vincent Hospital and four were taken by ambulance to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.

Officers with the Danville Metropolitan Police Department were the first on the scene and assisted Hendricks County.  According to a post by the DMPD, three of the teens had exited the vehicle prior to police arriving and three remained trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

The crash is under investigation.

In a post by the DMPD shared today, the department stated: “We would like to publicly commend Danville Officers Josh Gauger and Travis Wilson for remaining calm, assisting the victims prior to the arrival of medical staff and providing initial support as they arrived as the first emergency personnel on a very serious and chaotic crash scene. Our thoughts and well wishes are with all of the individuals involved this crash.”
