Restrictions should not limit your support of Hendricks County Restaurants

Our Hendricks County community of togetherness has been instructed to live socially distant. Hard for us extroverts, much easier for our introverted friends.
By nature, we are all about freedom. The freedom to move about as we please and certainly freedom to dine and drink where we want. Take that away – as was the case yesterday (March 16) through executive order from our governor to close bars and limit restaurants to service customers via carry-out and delivery only – and, well…

“We’re not surprised by the newest development,” Bill Franklin, co-owner of Court House Grounds, Danville, said. “Tracy Jones and I will continue to serve our customers. They’ll just have to do carry-out with us.”
“We understand the concern everyone has and the unknowns of our current environment,” Tom Booher, Chicago’s Pizza, Plainfield, said “We are currently trying to figure out how to make this have the least impact on our employees, and we realize we are not alone. Every restaurant in Hendricks County (and the state for that matter) is looking ahead to what could be a dark time.”
Booher continued: “In the 10-plus years we have been in Plainfield we have received great community support and have no reason to think that won’t continue through these uncharted times”
Paige Barnhart, owner of Sweet Paige’s, said she understands the necessity of closing at this time. “Unfortunately, several events and weddings have been rescheduled, this could potentially dramatically affect our schedule in the coming months,” she said. “Luckily, since I don’t have a staff, I’m not in the position that some small businesses are with having employees without any income. We will continue to do custom orders until we can reopen for walk-in business.”
Many Hendricks County restaurants are offering creative options for delicious meals that will also positively impact their livelihood. Check your favorite spot for social distance specials. Here are a couple who have posted on social media:
Court House Grounds and the Oasis Diner are offering $2 off on all carry-out dinner orders. Many are offering carry out, including Chicago Pizza, OPA!, Hilligoss Bakery and many more with curbside pickup. Others like Oasis Diner have opted to make deliveries with in-town limits for free or a flat fee.
Even though you can’t dine in to eat, please consider ordering carry out or delivery and purchasing gift cards from your favorite Hendricks County restaurants.
