Police asking for tips in Avon gun store burglary

Avon Police are still searching for two suspects who broke into the Fort Liberty Firearms store last week in Avon.

The suspects were shown on the store’s security surveillance video and police hope the pictures and will lead to tips and arrests.

“The surveillance will be absolutely critical in generating public interest, engagement, and hopefully tips to help clear and identify the suspects involved,” said Avon Police Deputy Chief Brian Nugent.

The incident happened on Nov. 7 around 5:40 a.m. at the business located at 8401 E US Hwy 36.

Police say two men forced entry to the front door. Once they discovered all the guns were secured in a large safe, they were unable to get a hold of the firearms.

According to police, the suspects destroyed property inside and stole several other items.

Police do not believe they were armed at the time.

They’re asking the community to take a look at surveillance photos to help them track down the suspects.

“The community/watchdogs can help by virtue of sharing, posting, commenting and engaging our images and videos from this investigation in the effort to expand our reach to viewers and followers who may have seen something or may recognize one of the suspects involved.”

If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
