At its April 12 meeting, the Plainfield Town Council granted approval to move forward with construction of the Plainfield Performing and Fine Arts Center in downtown Plainfield. The Performing and Fine Arts Center, which includes a 600-seat auditorium, will provide a new entertainment attraction in downtown Plainfield.

The council entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hendricks County Arts Groups to establish a partnership for the development of the center.

The center is the second phase of a two-phase downtown construction project that started in October 2020 on the corner of Center and Main streets. A new government center is currently under construction adjacent to the existing municipal building and scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

The Performing and Fine Arts Center will then begin construction on the site where the current municipal building sits and will be connected to the new government center when completed.
