The council unanimously voted to accept Klein’s resignation during its meeting on June 25.  Ryan Cannon, the town’s assistant town manager, and former director of public works, will serve as his interim successor, it was reported on the town’s website immediately following the meeting.  It was also learned that the town’s planning director, Jodi Dickey, was terminated as well.

Council member Aaron Tevebaugh, representing Ward #3, stated in an email to the ICON:  “Mr. Klein resigned from his position on Wednesday of this week (June 24), which was codified at last night’s meeting (June 25). I appreciate his efforts over the years and wish him luck in his future endeavors. “

“Council asked me to resign,” Klein, who did not attend the meeting, texted the ICON. “So, I signed the agreement and they approved it tonight. It has been a good run and I’ve enjoyed working to make Avon a great place to live work and play.”

On the Town of Avon’s website – http://avongov.org/ –  a letter titled “Employee Resignation Statement” discussed the hiring of a permanent replacement. In part, it stated: “As our staff continues to work through this time of transition, we remain diligently focused on the many on-going projects and programs we have underway. We truly appreciate the support of our community!”

Klein continued: “Thanks for our former and current council members for serving Avon. Their dedication as public officials is admirable and thanks to the civil servants that make our communities function every day. They are heroes in my mind. Thanks, Avon for a fun 22 years. It is time to move on to another community to serve.”
