ICON takes over Holiday Craft Show to grow festive tradition

By Lindsay Doty

It’s November and that means the holiday season is just around the corner. To get a jumpstart on finding that unique gift or festive trinket, The Hendricks County ICON is hosting the 2019 annual Holiday Craft Show at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The ICON took over the event at the request of The Flyer newspaper that shut operations in May. The Flyer had hosted the giant craft show for over two decades.

“The Flyer approached me about continuing with it because it has been a tradition in Hendricks County for many years,” said Rick Myers, publisher of the Hendricks County ICON and Hendricks County Business Leader

“The Flyer has been gracious and classy and they want nothing more for community journalism to thrive in the community and this event is one aspect of that.”

The event will feature over 100 vendor booths with everything from homemade jewelry to holiday décor and candy.

This year, Santa Claus will be on hand from 12 to 2 p.m. so parents can snap a picture of their children with the man in red.

“We hope to grow this bigger every year and make this the holiday kick-off celebration for Hendricks County,” said Myers.
