The support continues for Misty Eyes Animal Center in Hendricks County even after the nonprofit rescue had to cancel its biggest fundraiser of the year due to the COVID-19 situation.

Nearly all of the 162 ticket holders for the Raise the Woof event originally slated for  March 28 in Avon told the organization to keep their ticket fee as a donation.

“Always look for the good in the world, you will find it,” says founder Renee Harlor, who started the rescue along with co-founder Cherie Fox.

“The supporters of Misty Eyes never cease to amaze me with their kind and giving hearts. The volunteers worked so hard planning for this event, it was hard for me to tell them it wasn’t going to happen. Sharing the amazing news about ticket sales becoming donations energized the team and shows us all how much people care, even in the toughest of times,” said Harlor.

The online auction is still open to the public and will close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24.  The auction includes unique experiences, a ride with the sheriff, garden packages, wine tastings and more.

To begin viewing items and bidding you must click on the album. Bidding takes place in the comments.  You can view and bid on the items by going to the Misty Eyes Facebook page:

Items will be picked up in Avon.

Misty Eyes is run by an army of volunteers and houses animals in foster homes. They’ve been able to save thousands of dogs and cats but have also had to turn away thousands of animals due to space limitations. The nonprofit rescue is trying to raise money for its first animal facility in Avon, known as Kitty City to save more rescues.
