Danville police chief resigns

Wendell Ray Raney, Jr.

Wendell Ray Raney, Jr. has resigned from his position as chief of the Danville Police Department.

The department confirmed today that Raney stepped down on March 13.

Raney served as Danville’s chief of police since being sworn in July of 2016.

“He did not provide a statement to us regarding the resignation,” Officer Nate Lien, spokesperson for the department, said.

Assistant Chief Jim Hilton has assumed the role of Interim Chief.
