Hendricks County police agencies will be out in full force conducting impaired driving enforcement throughout Hendricks County beginning Dec. 1-15.

Maj. Bryan Fultz, Brownsburg Police Department, is overseeing the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over blitz. “Officers will focus their patrols in high-traffic and high-accident areas where alcohol and narcotics have been a factor.” Flutz stated, “Officers will be practicing a zero tolerance for any traffic stop or crashes where alcohol or narcotics are a factor.”

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department’s Capt. Amanda Goings said it’s about keeping roadways safe. “We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday,” Goings said. “Additional patrols have been added (and) will not take away from regular law enforcement staffing.”

“The Avon Police Department is happy to work alongside other officers across the county to focus efforts on impaired driving enforcement to save lives here in Indiana,” said Avon Police Department Chief Brian Nugent.

Nate Lien, PIO with Danville Metropolitan Police Department concurred. “During the holidays, more motorists choose to drink and drive, which is also the same time that families are traveling for different gatherings. Our hope is that individuals who choose to drink, will give the keys to a sober driver, or face the consequences.” Lien said. “Our agency can’t stress enough… drive sober, or you will be pulled over.”

Deputy Chief Joe Aldridge, Plainfield Police Department said too many during the holiday season they have seen lives affected and drastically changed by drinking and driving. “With ride options like Uber and Lyft, there are no excuses for endangering your life and others., Aldridge said. “Use a designated driver or give someone your keys. Officers will be out in full force.”
