Officer Corey Hill was sworn in on July 8 as the new school resource officer with the Brownsburg Community School Corporation Police Department.

Hill comes to the district with experience with the Brownsburg Police Department and is a graduate of the BCSC district.

“An opportunity to become a school resource officer for the very school corporation that made me the person I am today presented itself and I knew it was a calling,” wrote Hill on Facebook about the opportunity. “The idea of making an impact on today’s youth and still helping others spoke to me.”

He joins the team of five other school resource officers. They work together to keep the growing district of more than 9,300 students safe.

Brownsburg was the third school system in Indiana to establish its own police team back in 2008.

The police officers employed by the school are Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certified and have full arrest powers and the authority to perform traffic stops and issue citations.
