Avon Town Council appoints Ryan Cannon to town manager

Ryan Cannon, who has been serving as the interim town manager since the position became vacant on June 24, was named Avon’s new town manager at the Sept. 24 town council meeting.

“I appreciate the council giving me the opportunity to do this and I am looking forward to it,” he said after the meeting.  “I am excited to get started and make some changes. I am really proud that the staff and community have been so supportive during this process.”

Cannon has worked for the town of Avon for 21 years. His first job was as the assistant to the assistant town manager. He has worked in various capacities throughout his career with Avon and was the assistant town manager and director of public works when named interim town manager.

“One thing that Ryan will certainly bring to this community is the art of listening to people,” said Greg Zusan, town council president. “We had about 27 applications and Ryan rose to the top. The moment he was named interim town manager he began to make some good changes. This is a great chance for us to revamp how we do things.”
