Avon High School AP English Teacher Heather Meunier has been selected as a recipient of the Indiana University Armstrong Teacher Educator Award.

She will be honored in April at IU-Bloomington by the School of Education.

The Armstrong Teacher Educator Award recognizes educator excellence and provides financial support for top Indiana educators to work with current IU faculty and undergraduates in the classroom and early field experiences.

Meunier will spend some time at IU mentoring future educators during the fall semester.

Meunier has taught at Avon High School for 12 years. She is a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Education. She is also a former Avon Community School Corporation Teacher of the Year.

The Hendricks County community congratulated the teacher for her accomplishments on social media.

“Thank you so much for the kind words,” wrote Meunier.

“I am honored to receive this award, excited for this opportunity, and filled with gratitude for the support I’ve received.”

Meunier is the seventh Avon Community School Corporation educator to receive the award. Ranielle Moore (2018), Dean Westman (2017), Susanne Clark (2014), Laurie Davies (2012), Tony Record (2011), Lori Rosemeyer (2007) were previous recipients.
