Avon police investigate shooting

At approximately 5:40 p.m. July 24, the Avon Police Department was dispatched to the area of 119 Angelina Way in Avon, in reference to a male subject who had been shot. Responding officers arrived on scene and located 22 year-old Indianapolis resident Tyler Fischer who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Avon Officer Mercedes Spicer quickly applied a tourniquet to Fisher’s leg as medics from the Washington Township Avon Fire Department rushed him to Eskenazi hospital. Based upon the initial findings of the investigation, detectives believe that Fischer had been driving his 2018 Ford Mustang in the area of the Regal Cinema located near U.S. 36 and Ronald Reagan Parkway. While in the area, Fischer was approached by two black male suspects who brandished a firearm and ordered Fischer to drive to Key Bank, located approximately one mile west of the Regal Cinema. While in the parking lot of Key Bank, a dispute ensued and Fischer was reportedly shot inside of the vehicle by one of the male suspects.

Witnesses in the area of Key Bank reported hearing a gunshot and observing the vehicle exit the parking lot where Fischer then exited the vehicle. Witnesses also report that the two black male suspects then jumped into Fischer’s vehicle and fled the scene. Approximately an hour after the shooting, officers with IMPD located Fischer’s vehicle inside an abandoned residence on the far southwest side of Indianapolis. The vehicle was recovered by Avon detectives and transported to the Avon Police Department.
