Avon police identify theft suspect caught on surveillance stealing from a dentist office

By Lindsay Doty

Avon police have identified a theft suspect who they say stole employee credit cards and cash from the backroom of a pediatric dental office.

Using video surveillance, detectives identified the man as John Holcomb of Indianapolis. Holcomb has multiple arrest warrants out of Marion and Hendricks County and police say he is on the run.

On Jan. 23, the suspect was shown on video wandering into an employee backroom at Aldrich Pediatric Dentistry in Avon where he walked out with multiple debit and credit cards, according to police.Investigators say the suspect attempted to use the stolen cards at several locations shortly after.

They believe Holcomb may be connected to similar thefts in Indiana and the Avon area.

Police say these incidents are a good reminder to always be vigilant.

“We can be creatures of habit and it’s a good time to practice safety and keep an eye on bank statements and for businesses to reevaluate  their security protocols too,” said Avon Police Deputy Chief Brian Nugent.

They’re asking for anyone who has information about the whereabouts of John Holcomb to call Crimestoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
