Recently, Whiskey Bent Pub & Grill celebrated their one year anniversary. Owner Mike Grady has kept many menu items from the former Loose Caboose but with his added twists and specialties… plus house-made whiskey glazes. His chef takes pride in knowing what their regulars order and it’s ready within minutes after walking in the door.
I ordered the house-made fried pickles, the Brillo Burger and carrot cake. The Brillo Burger, is named after Chris’ dad. The burger has three 7 oz. beef patties, four slices of Texas toast, six slices of bacon and three slices of American cheese plus one full pound of fries. The fried pickles were delicious. The burger is huge, two hands are needed, and full of flavor.
The twist: the Brillo is their Challenge Burger … eat in 20 minutes, it’s free. Plus a t-shirt! I didn’t get the t-shirt plus the carrot cake had to go home to enjoy much later!

Where do you like to dine?
We live in Brownsburg, Sal’s Famous Pizzeria is one of our favorites. (I will admit to deeply missing Hurricane–the only metro restaurant that served conch fritters, a dish that is like vacation on a plate for me.)
What do you like there?
I’m a veggie calzone gal. I always think I’m going to save half to eat “tomorrow” because they’re so huge, and I never, ever do. Clean plate club every time.
What do you like about this place?
I’m not a chain restaurant snob at all. I admire the courage it takes to open a restaurant from the ground up and make it work, so it’s important to me to support local. The ones, like Sal’s with great food and service rise to the top for me.
