An Option: Blue Sushi Sake Grill

With my first foray with sushi being a tasty success, I wanted to try Blue Sushi Sake Grill located at Ironworks. I met with Blue’s General Manager, Stacey Ramsey letting her know I was a newbie. She suggested several items – raw, baked and vegan – to try.

First up, Maki Rolls: Lion King, Cowgirl, Hot Popper. Cowgirl is vegan and tastes like a McDonald’s hamburger. Ramsey suggests the Cowgirl to parents with children. This kid loved the Cowgirl along with the Lion King: crab mix, cucumber, avocado, spicy salmon, eel sauce, spicy mayo. The Hot Popper: smoked salmon, cream cheese, jalapeño tempura, soy paper, sriracha was good but spicy. Next, the was the crispy tuna cakes side by side comparison with raw tuna and vegan tuna. I could not taste the difference of texture and flavor. We ended with the Itchy Salmon, baked Atlantic salmon on top of spicy crab mix, topped with serrano, cilantro and ponzu sauce. Each item with layers of flavor was delicious.

As you know, it’s about the desserts for me. Ramsey brought out their Chocolate Spring Rolls – crispy wonton wrappers stuffed with toasted cashews, cinnamon, raspberry purée and chocolate syrup, served with vanilla bean ice cream. First bite, I was in my happy place.

My next visit will be on a Sunday. The Blue menu is half price all day plus a full Bloody Mary bar.
